Clubs

The Dutch either like to have a quiet, peaceful drink and a chat or they go absolutely mental, with very little in between. So clubs and concerts can be insane. Most clubs play 90s style house or techno and there are many big summer open-air festivals so watch out for flyers. There are also plenty of live music venues ranging from excellent classical concerts to the latest rock heroes. One thing unique to the Netherlands is the custom of tipping the bouncers a Euro or two on the way out. Also annoying is the need to pay 50 cents every time you go to the toilets. A lot of places also have strict No Hats rules (seriously). Still it’s pretty easy to go out and party every night of the week; Amsterdam was made for hedonists.
